Community Service

At TNCS, we encourage every student to play the fullest role possible in their world. With this in mind, several full-school opportunities are offered to students throughout the year for community service. For example, students have collected food for the Central Virginia Food Bank, conducted a book drive for William Byrd Community House, collected school supplies for children in Ghana, and made gifts for residents of local assisted living facilities. Individual students may also choose to work for various organizations such as the YMCA, the Humane Society, the Children's Hospital, or any of a number of other non-profits in the area.

The following is a list of current community service activities that our students are participating in:
    • Please check back for upcoming events.

Community service hours are also expected of seniors as part of a 12th grade course in Ethics. We find that civicism required for graduation and this immersion in a specific and individual effort to support others, also has a significantly positive impact on the self-confidence of healthy young adults.

Beyond Academics

  • More than 75% of our students participate in at least one sport.

  • Activities include Student Advisory Board, sports, drama, school newspaper, club and committee memberships, and yearbook.

  • Students participate in community service activities throughout the year -- and seniors contribute time as part of their graduation requirements.
