The New Community School offers summer courses for middle school students and professionals interested in learning more about dyslexia. Additionally, there are many other sources of information about dyslexia that may prove useful. The links here provide recommended reading lists of books and articles as well as links to other helpful websites.

Teaching the World
About Dyslexia

  • TNCS developed and published teacher manuals used in public and private school settings.  A national publishing house now handles these books.

  • TNCS faculty members conduct local and national workshops and seminars to share their knowledge of teaching dyslexic young people.

  • TNCS hosts a Summer School program for middle school students and a Professional Institute for educators and parents.

Middle School Summer Program and Professional Institute

TNCS offers seven short courses for rising 6th - 8th graders focusing on improving skills in reading, writing, mathematics, keyboarding, organization and physical fitnessJune 16 - July 11

The Professional Institute offers 1 to 4 day seminars for parents, teachers and administrators seeking insights, tools and strategies to help students succeed both in the classroom and beyond. Professional Institute courses will be held June 17- August 14. Several scholarships are available to parents and teachers as a result of a gift from the Learning Disabilities Council. Please contact the school for details.
