The New Community School has been led by Nancy Foy since 2012. Mrs. Foy has dedicated her career to supporting students with language-based learning differences.
Nancy holds a BA in Elementary Education from Millikin University and a M.ED in reading and learning disabilities from The University of Richmond.
Prior to coming to The New Community School, she served as Head of the Lower School at Hilton Head Preparatory School for four years and in a variety of roles at The Collegiate School in Richmond,VA for 24 years. She established specialized programs for dyslexic students at each of her previous schools. Mrs. Foy also served as an adjunct professor in the Education Department at The University of Richmond for several years.
Nancy has served on the boards of both the Virginia and South Carolina branches of The International Dyslexia Association.
She currently serves on the Accreditation and Member Services Committees and serves as the Richmond Regional Coordinator for the Virginia Association of Independent Schools (VAIS) as well as a trustee for the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS). She has been very active in the creation of a national organization for schools similar to The New Community School and is serving as founding Board Chair of The Association of LD Schools.
