Ways to Give

Endowed Gifts

Endowed funds are gifts today that provide benefits for a lifetime. The New Community School endowment is the foundation of the school’s long-term stability and success, enhancing the educational program, supporting faculty compensation and professional development, increasing financial aid, and providing financial stability in times of economic uncertainty.

Funds generated from these gifts, large and small, allow donors to leave a legacy and the School a greater chance to empowers minds that think differently and inspires tomorrow’s leaders and innovators.

Gifts of any size may be made to the general endowment or a specific fund. A named endowment fund may be created at New Community through a minimum gift of $25,000. With each endowment gift, principal is invested and a portion of the income becomes available each year to support the school. Unrestricted endowment gifts give the school the flexibility to allocate funds to meet the greatest, most pressing needs.

Named endowments provide a way to celebrate the lives of generous donors, their families or friends, or any special group, linking their names to the important mission of The New Community School. Gifts may be unrestricted or restricted to programs close to your heart. Please contact our Development office at 804.264.3276 to discuss opportunities to make an endowed gift to the school.

Planned Giving

There are many ways to leave a legacy and change the lives of young people with dyslexia. Estate gifts of all sizes have helped shape The New Community School’s academic program, nurtured outstanding teachers, enabled students to attend, and allowed donors to leave a legacy and recognize something or someone important to them.

The Dickinson Greenwood Society

Donors who make planned gifts to TNCS are recognized as members of The Dickinson Greenwood Society. Named after a mother and a daughter – Jean Dickinson and Julia Ann Greenwood – whose unparalleled dedication and leadership has guided New Community since its founding, The Dickinson Greenwood Society honors individuals who have thoughtfully included the New Community School in their estate plans.

We invite you to become a member of this society by telling us when you have named TNCS in your estate plans. Recognition of your gift can encourage others to do the same. If you prefer to remain anonymous, your gift will be completely confidential.

Methods of Planned Giving include:

  • Bequests
  • Retirement Designation
  • Life Income Gifts
  • Gifts of Life Insurance
  • Retained Life Estate

One of the simplest ways to make a planned gift is to name The New Community School as a beneficiary in your will or revocable trust. Bequests allow you to realize your vision for the future in a tangible way without a financial burden during your lifetime and may reduce estate taxes for heirs.

TNCS welcomes the opportunity to work with you and your advisors to plan a gift. If we can be of assistance, please call the development office at 804.264.3276
